danielle

aerobic - with oxygen
anaerobic - without oxygen

Exercises such as walking, light jogging are aerobic exercise ... which requires oxygen ... they are good for burning calories.

When you move further to something more intense (even when you jog faster) ... you started to become short of breath and muscles started to sore ... you are entering into the anaerobic stage. At this stage, the supply of oxygen is not longer sufficient for your muscle and and have to draw energy from stored substances. Anaerobic exercise are good for muscle building when performed correctly.

jaime

aero means with air. anaero means without air. So aerobic exercises are like jogging. For anaero, it means an exercise with sudden burst of energy. I think like boxing.

johntr

Aerobic exercise is an exercise that causes your heart to work harder and beat faster. These exercises condition your body.
For example: Jogging, biking, dancing, hockey

Anaerobic exercise is an exercise that don't cause fatigue to most of your body. You may be working out but you really aren't conditioning yourself it's more strengthening or working on things such as flexibility.
For example: Weight lifting
