if your heart rate is not elevated it is not aerobic. Likewise..if your heart rate is too high it is not aerobic. Typically you calculate your target heart rate zone by using the following calculation….220 – Age x 70% (low end of heart rate to be effective)….and also 220 – Age x 80% (high end of range)
so for example if you were 30 a good HR zone would be 133-152 beats per minute.
If you have fibro…try not to go too far beyond the low number until you gain confidence that you are not over doing it.
For most walking is not suffiecient to achieve a true aerobic benefit…but let your heart rat determine it.
Walking is a good fat-burning exercise. It’s not aerobic unless you get your heart rate up to at least 70% of your maximum heart rate (to find your maximum heart rate, take 225 and subtract your age — then you can use a calculator to figure out what 70% of your MHR is). Most people have to walk very fast or jog to get their heart rate up that high.
Here is a list of other aerobic exercise:
– Jogging
– Riding a bicycle or stationary bicycle
– Swimming laps
– Traditional aerobics classes
– Tae-Bo
– Dancing
– Anything that gets your heart rate up and keeps it up
Aerobic exercises are those that can be done continuous, involve large muscles, and do not put you out of breath. Walking, jogging, swimming, rowing, cross country skiing, are all examples. Aerobic activity should be a priority for fibromyalgia patients.
According to the U of Michigan, fibromyalgia patients receive the same benefits from aerobic exercise as non-sufferers. In addition, over time you may see an improvement in symptoms.
Make sure to take your time warming up and if possible do a few range of motion and stretching exercises. Start slow, go slow, and avoid anything that increases pain. Good luck!

It would be helpful if u would do and arm raising exercise as you walk. Dont do anything complicated though…
